Sam has spent more than 30 years in pastoral leadership, serving in a variety of roles as a staff pastor, as well as, a lead pastor. Joining the Grace staff in June of 2018, Sam provides direct oversight and leadership to the Statesville campus.
Sam's passion is to help people experience transformational encounters with God by helping them recognize the divine moments in life. The act of giving oneself away is a powerful means for discipleship. Sam also has a desire to understand the organizational dynamics that exist in churches of all sizes. In pursuit of this understanding, he has earned a BA Theology (OT) degree from Oral Roberts University, an MA Theology and MA Cross-Cultural Studies degrees from Fuller Theological Seminary, and recently earned his PhD in Organizational Leadership from Regent University. This path in life has also led him to adjunct teaching opportunities in Uganda, Nigeria, India, and Nepal, as well as, in the U.S.
Sam and his wife, Betsy, have three adult children living on their own. In his free time Sam enjoys taking bike rides with Betsy, travel, reading John Grisham novels, and losing some golf balls a couple times a year.
