Baptism Orientation Class - Cornelius
Sunday, August 16 - adult class @ 11am, room 221
Same day/same time - children's class @ 11am
Room 236 (next to Kindergarten classroom)
Actual baptism: Sunday, August 30 @ 9:15am & 11am
The significance of water baptism is that it symbolizes the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and our identification with Him. It is not required for salvation but is an act of obedience and a public sign of what Christ has done inwardly in your life. An orientation class is required for all baptism candidates and these are held periodically on Sunday mornings. Adult and children's orientation class are held separately on the same day. The children's class is taught by Pastor Danielle Christy and is at 11am, the same times as the adult class (also at 11am) which taught by elder Tim Schwiebert. Children must be at least 8 years old to be water baptized. Email email@example.com with any questions or concerns.

Tuesdays, September 8 - October 27 10:30am in the Fireside Room We have never walked this way before. Are we walking in these days as the Lord intends…taking advantage of the opportunities put before us? Are we allowing the 'shaking' to work internally, spiritually, as He intends? We are being prepared for something new, therefore we need a Fresh Anointing for all He has prepared for us. In this class we will learn to 'look to Jesus' for our stability and growth as He intends. I don't know about you, but my desire is to participate with Him for the day He appointed. To be found ever seeking Him…And I realize I require a fresh anointing, an outpouring of the Holy Spirit to ready me to take my place as His bride. Let's prepare together…I can't think of greater joy. Materials Needed: Bible, a notebook and an open heart.Group Details

Thursdays, 10:00am in the Fireside Room Joy is the constant companion of the woman who trusts in the Lord. And while you can find it in friends, family, and circumstances, unfailing, persistent joy will only ever overflow from your relationship with Jesus. Just ask Job, the man from Uz who clung to God's goodness while all his worldly joys were stripped away. But how is it possible to hold onto such joy in times of sorrow? In this study, discover the redemptive facet of Job's suffering. Learn to view pain as a way to strengthen your faith, point others to the gospel, and trust in the Lord. Because His providence will never take you to a place where His grace will not sustain you.Group Details

Fridays, September 18 - November 13 9:00am God has won the eternal victory. However, we still live in this world and experience spiritual warfare. The Bible tells us that we are more than conquerors through our Lord Jesus Christ. But, sometimes we don't feel or act very much like conquerors. Would you like to learn to be more confident in battles? Would you like to be more victorious? In this class, we'll make sure our foundation is solid. We'll see what the Bible tells us about who God is and who we are in Christ Jesus. We'll identify warfare, our enemy, his tactics, and look at how Jesus Christ resisted his temptations and then defeated him. We'll learn tools that help us overcome and live as conquerors. We'll learn how to fight and how to stand. About half of each class will be studying what the Bible tells us about spiritual warfare. We will spend the other half of our class time actually engaging as God's army: doing battle through worship, giving thanks, praise, repentance, and praying Scripture based prayers. If you want to be more confident in your battles or want to join with others in training and walking in victory, come join in this time together. Materials Needed: BibleGroup Details
Wednesdays, September 16 - October 21 11:00am Are you exhausted trying to keep everything under control because you fear God won't come through? When hard times come and it seems God is deviating from the plan we assume our life should follow, we're much more likely to want to tame God, not trust Him. It's then that we begin to press into our own ways and our own timing. No human can carry the weight of being their own god, but so many of us try. In this study of 1 and 2 Kings, you'll learn ways you can overcome trust issues with God, find fear from relief and doubt, and let go of control and allow God to work in your life. Materials Needed: Trustworthy Participant's Guide, by Lysa Terkeurst, ISBN-13: 9781535906715.Group Details

Each session shows a video presentation followed by small group discussion about the video. The GriefShare videos present experts, ministers, and Christian counselors discussing grief and recovery subjects helpful to people in grief.
Real people share their stories of what has helped them deal with the pain of losing a family member or friend through death.
During the week between meetings, group members complete a daily Bible study and practical exercises to help them heal from grief.

We will try to keep each hiking location within an hour of the church (Cornelius), and depending on the location and size of the group, we will either meet at Cornelius church campus and carpool, or meet at the site. Once we are there, our heart is to have someone lead a word of encouragement/devotion, and prayer before we start our hike. If people want to go on different trails or at different speeds, that is totally ok! We just want to find church family members with a common interest so that we can do life together! The group makes afghans and hats for chemo patients, which are distributed through personal visits to a local infusion center.
