"Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience." Colossians 3:12
Every Christ-follower has a unique calling in carrying Christ’s Great Commission (1 Peter 4:10). Therefore, our desire is to see Grace Covenant congregants engage the community in which they live to manifest the love and life of Jesus. While we can join in various ways to share Christ’s compassion and message, at times, it is more effective to come alongside and strengthen others who are already at work in our community.
In this season in the life of Grace Covenant, we believe God is calling us to engage in the power of partnership. We believe Grace Covenant is to carry out the mission and ministry of Jesus locally by focusing on the following areas of community need:
- Support At-Risk Families
- Invest in Youth
- Serve an Immigrant Group
- Care for Orphans and Stand for Life
As we strive to fulfill our mission, we will establish ministry partnerships with organizations that have a proven track record. Below are our current ministry partners and information on how to get involved.

Thanksgiving Baskets 2021
This year we are once again privileged to bless the families in our church and throughout the Lake Norman community who are experiencing a challenging holiday season by providing Thanksgiving dinner baskets on Tuesday, November 23. We would love for you to get involved! You can refer a family in need, volunteer to pack or deliver baskets, or you can donate to cover the cost of a meal for a family in need (average cost is $30). We ask for monetary donations in lieu of food to ensure uniformity among meal boxes. Thank you for loving and serving your community!
Volunteer opportunities at the Cornelius campus include:
- Basket Assembly: Unloading food items, assembling and filling boxes. 1:30pm - 3:00pm
- Delivery Drivers: Make deliveries to families unable to pick up their baskets. Start @ 3:00pm; all deliveries will be en route by 5:30pm.
- Car Loaders: Help carry baskets to cars for people picking up their baskets on Tuesday. 4:00pm - 6:00pm
Please note, unused funds from the Thanksgiving Blessing Basket outreach may be used for the Joyland Christmas Store outreach as both events are part of our holiday fund.
We are starting a new community partnership under our Invest in Youth strategic pillar with J.V. Washam Elementary School. We are looking for volunteers with a desire to work with students and teachers to be part of an ongoing care and support team. The commitment level will vary based on the role.
- Lunch Buddies — be a buddy/mentor and have lunch with students
- Reading Buddies/Tutoring — support students with classroom learning or just reading with students
- Appreciation Baskets — monthly distribution of appreciation to the staff with snacks, cards, and
- Prayer and covering — commit to praying for teachers, administration and students.

Serve Hispanic Immigrant Community
One of the four pillars of our Compassion Ministry strategy is to serve an immigrant group. We are launching a ministry opportunity to facilitate outreaches and serve the Hispanic/Latino community. As we provide periodic outreaches, we will provide services in five key areas of need: immigration process, labor opportunities, housing opportunities, ESL training program, and health services. These outreaches will also include evangelism opportunities.
